TeraView’s proprietary
technology and expertise have now been successfully applied
to define product and process specifications that affect
the performance of solid dosage forms. A series of
successful case studies with the pharmaceutical industry
and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) were used to illustrate
the benefits to the industry in terms of reducing development
time, ensuring rapid scale up into manufacture and maintaining
in-spec product with reduced risk of regulatory non compliance. |

An Anglo-French team composed
of TeraView Ltd., Cambridge University, the University
of Paris 7, and Thales R&T, has reported the operation
of quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) emitting at 2.8 Terahertz
(THz) with a threshold current of 19 mA at 4K (see S. Dhillon
et al., Applied Physics Letters, August 1, 2005 issue),
the lowest threshold ever measured without the help of
intense magnetic field. |

A major step forward in
the use of Terahertz for commercial drug development
Cambridge, England: TeraView Ltd, the company that launched the world's
first commercial Terahertz spectrometer, today announced the availability
of the world's first Terahertz spectrometer capable of making measurements
in multiple sampling geometries, the Spectra 1000D. Building on the success
of the Spectra 1000, the latest addition to Teraview's Terahertz spectroscopy
portfolio combines reflective spectroscopy with its existing transmission
spectroscopy technology. |

Continuous wave sources
and detectors are a vital enabling technology for terahertz
cameras. Scientists at Teraview have developed new high-performance
continuous wave (CW) terahertz sources and detectors which
open up the possibility of practical terahertz cameras
for security screening and suicide bomber detection. |

A new way of identifying
metal and explosives could provide a valuable tool in the
fight against terrorism.
Airport security has become big business following the terrorist attacks
in the US. A system that detects both metal and non-metallic weapons using
terahertz light has been developed by technology firm TeraView.
It could make passenger screening at airports more effective and quicker,
say experts. |

The next generation of
security screening systems will be based on so-called terahertz
technology that can see weapons and explosives hidden under
people's clothes. But using terahertz radiation to produce
X-ray-like images of passengers is likely to be unacceptable
for routine use, as it will allow security staff to see
the people they are scanning as if they were naked. |
